LCCC Small Business Development Center Hosts Boots to Business Reboot Event

Veterans often have the character, discipline and skills needed to succeed as small business owners and entrepreneurs. The Small Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lorain County Community College will host a Boots to Business Reboot event to help local veterans with the drive to explore “Starting or Growing a Veteran-Owned Business,” a two-step entrepreneurship training program from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5 in room 132 of the Desich Entrepreneur Center.

Boots to Business Reboot is a two-step training program that provides participants an overview of business ownership as a career vocation, an outline and knowledge on the components of a business plan, a practical exercise in opportunity recognition and an introduction to available public and private sector resources,” said Lisa Hutson, of the SBDC.

The first part is the Introduction to Entrepreneurship course eligible to veterans, service members (including members of the National Guard and Reserve) and their spouses, taught by the Small Business Administration (SBA) and its partners. The second part of the course is one of the online follow-on courses instructed by a consortium of professors and skilled business advisors from the SBA Network.

This course is free to veterans and their families. To register, visit https://sbavets.force.com.

The Ohio Small Business Development Centers provides a high-impact, front-line program designed to facilitate small business growth, job creation and access to capital. SBDCs provide confidential one-to-one business advising at no cost, management training and education programs and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and small business owners. Each center is staffed with highly-trained, industry experts to assist the local small business community with growth strategies.
